Residence with Guest House and Studio

Built in two phases four years apart the house its guesthouse and adjacent studio occupy two lots in an established neighborhood. The house and guest house maximize the opportunity for light and air flow through the structures while being sensitive to the narrow qualities of the site (the second lot and studio were added in phase 2). Two- story spaces defining the living, dining, kitchen, and family rooms of the main house are balanced by the modest single story guest house on the property’s street side that relates to the scale of neighboring houses. A 600 square-foot glass and steel trellis connects the main house with the studio, which now frames the rear garden.  Harden Sacherman_1 jpeg
